Description

Product Design is responsible for designing and developing new products and product improvements. They will play a pivotal role in evaluating, analyzing, and making recommendations on products and designs to enhance the competitive position of the company. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, effective communication, strong leadership abilities, and mechanical aptitude in conceptual design. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, analyze, and make recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the company's competitive position.
• Interface with other teams in the organization and customers to jointly determine customer needs and solutions.
• Procure materials needed to construct prototypes and supervise the design engineering of new models.
• Plan and develop test programs for prototypes using computer-assisted engineering and design software.
• Analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
• Analyze, evaluate, source, and coordinate the procurement of new materials to support model changes.
• Analyze, evaluate, and recommend cost improvement ideas through product, vendor, and design changes.
• Perform technical analysis of competitive products.
• Provide support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer support.
• Perform other duties as needed and assigned.

Requirements

 Role Qualifications:

• Exceptionally well organized and detail-oriented, with exposure to office and manufacturing environments.
• Excellent communicator and leader with a strong customer-focused attitude.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling corporate information.
• Display mechanical aptitude in conceptual design and discussion of design projects.
•  Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree or related engineering discipline with a design focus preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of product design experience.
• Basic working knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD designing software.
• Knowledge of basic metrology hand tools desired.
• Machine Shop or Mechanical Assembly experience highly desired.
• Familiarity with basic machine tools: lathes, grinders, mills, presses, EDMs.
• Familiarity with basic machine components: levers, linkages, bearings, shafts, springs, screw threads, complex mechanisms.
